SPECIAL NOTES:
4- and 5-year-old Divisions
Stony Brook Farm is going to make both the 4- and 5-year-old division as inviting as possible for young horses; we do not want to over-face them. The 4-year-old division will have 2 jumps at novice height with an option to do an easier jump. The 5-year-old division will have 2 jumps at training height with an option to do an easier jump. If you want to qualify for the championships the horses must do the highest jumps to achieve the best scores.
New Event Horse Division
The New Event Horse Division will be a division for any late-bloomers conducted at the 4-year-old YEH level but open to horses of all ages. This division is great for those wanting to introduce an inexperienced horse to eventing, to get an expert evaluation of the potential of a horse, and to have some fun! The dressage test is unique to YEH, easy to perform, is not about perfect execution, but aimed at evaluating quality of gaits. The jumping test will be approximately at the level of beginner novice with perhaps several optional obstacles at novice height. Thus, only a beginning level of training is needed for this division. Useful judge's comments will accompany the score and are not at all about the rider's performance, rather entirely about the horse! Come try it!
